The membrane that everyone walked on
01Situation
Upper edge of foundation waterproofing membrane loose. Pedestrian traffic takes place on the membrane; protective EPS on it damaged from continuous walking.
02Where Margin Escaped
Damaged foundation waterproofing is one of the most expensive hidden defects — emerges after backfilling, when repair means excavation. Plus the chain of moisture damage consequences.
03Root Cause
'Protection of executed works' had no owner. Nobody was responsible for pedestrians walking on the finished membrane.
Technical Principle
Clean and dry edge; press or glue with membrane-compatible compound; permanently — mechanical flashing strip plus top seal; replace damaged EPS where membrane underneath could suffer. And cause, not symptom: block traffic on membrane or lay protective layer until backfilling — without this, any repair will fail anyway.
!How the Loop Closes It
Task does not end with 'completed'. It has one more state: 'protected / accepted' — with a specific responsible party. Completed ≠ protected, and the system won't let you forget.
